Our world is either burning or sinking. What do you do?
Thursday, 08 Aug. 2007

Mauritania, a country most of which is part of the great African Sahara dessert, is swept today by floods.

10 or 20 years ago such headline would catch the eyes and attract our attention more than it does today. Today we have simply got used to such abnormal natural phenomena which are hitting other parts of the world, like the British floods or the heat waves which struck eastern Europe during the summer of 2007.

"Thanks" to our global warming which has been dramatically worsening in the past few years, these are no longer abnormal phenomena now. They have become part of our normal weather cycles. And what are we still waiting for? Do we wait for the polar ice caps to melt and sink few dozens countries and flood hundreds of millions around the world?

We shouldn't only wait and rely on our governments and politicians to take actions. We can still tackle the problem from other angels too, one of which is increasing the rate of reforestation and trying to plant as many trees and forests around the world as possible, to catch with the increasing rates or carbon dioxide responsible for heating our planet.

You can help too by taking action in our website and donating for a tree on our pages that holds your name and website link.

Please take action now and donate for a tree in our website. Yes I know things have been slow here lately, as I am still unable to devote much time to this project, but I strongly believe that things will catch up fast later on. It's only a matter of time.

Is this website for real?
Friday, 29 Jun. 2007

When I first started working on this project earlier this year, I told my brothers about it. They got excited and started making fun, commenting that at the end I would just take all the raised money and run away.

Some visitors might have doubts too regarding the integrity of this website, specially with all the spam and hoaxes that fill the internet today.

My reply to those visitors is the same reply to my brothers: "No, I will indeed donate the raised money to a world organization", according to what is stated in the website.

I am indeed concerned about nature, animals and the environment in general, and those around me know that very well. It will be interesting to contribute to the efforts of those organizations and help in any way, while at the same time make an interesting website that could be fun to check from time to time.

I am a web developer, and have more ideas for other websites to add into my portfolio, but with less time to work on them, unfortunately.

So to sum this in short, this website IS for real. You just keep an eye on it, and hope that it gets the appropriate attention in the near future.

So, here we go!
Friday, 29 Jun. 2007

I'm really excited about this little project, although results so far have been far from "exciting". The site has been online for few days now, and I don't have much time to work on marketing or other forms of advertising due to my full time job and other life occupations. Yet I hope the project will capture some attention gradually over time.

Today I was excited when I got a real planted tree from Serge Bellemare for $15. Previous paid trees where generally posted by me or for testing purposes. However, Serge marked the first "real" paid tree in the site. Thanks Serge! You will probably be famous in the future if the site gets somewhere!

Ok, back to my daily struggle now!
